Pride and Prejudice but make it Pinoy, in college, and Lizzy is a football star: Katrina Ramos Atienza’s new-adult college romance Well Played has been acquired by Kristine Mandigma and Gelo Lopez at Vibal Publishing for print distribution in the Philippines.
Well Played is a modern retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, set at a mountain-adjacent university in Laguna. Patrice is a junior who’s getting good grades, is a football star, and finally has the attention of her drummer crush. Everything’s great until new classmate, Applied Math major Paul, walks into her life and can’t seem to hide his disdain for every part of it. How dare he? But also, why does she care?
Scheduled for release in June 2025, Well Played is part of Vibal’s Vida New Adult imprint. Mina V. Esguerra is the imprint’s editor-at-large.
